This research investigates the impact of water lifesaving on secondary school-age students. Its main aim is to finalise a water lifesaving programme that could be used for educating these young adults on the prevention of water-related incidents and the proper assimilation of a safe rescue. The research includes three programmes. The first programme was held in July 2004 and consisted of six lessons, while the second programme was held in the following month and consisted of seven lessons. The lessons were held at the National Pool and lasted one and a half hours each. Nine co-ed students participated in the July programme while seven co-ed students participated in the August programme. Their age ranged from eleven to sixteen years. The participation of the students helped me evaluate and implement both programmes, and therefore finalise a third programme of eight lessons. The programmes were analysed with the help of a journal, two informal tests, a set of rescue situations, and the evaluations of the students. The data was analysed according to the assimilation of the programmes and discussed according to the results and the literature review.en_GB
