Abstract: The purpose of this study was to provide perceptions from various stakeholders about repeating of Year 6. A case study was conducted in a State Primary school in the South of Malta, and it focused on 122 repeater pupils grouped in five classes. Interviews were conducted with the pupils and staff, namely the Headmaster, the Assistant Head and the teachers. A questionnaire was distributed to the parents of repeater pupils to have an ample view of how these sample groups were experiencing the repetition of a year. Observations were conducted in all classes, which gave insight into the teaching strategies used. Pupils' behaviour towards education was observed as well as their interaction with the teachers and peers. The authors could conclude that there was room for improvement when pupils were willing to succeed in their academic education. This understanding emerged from the children's attitudes towards school. The pupils' Annual and Mock examination results, together with the previous and present Junior Lyceum Examination results provided evidence of the pupils' academic achievements. Every child showed some form of improvement and this fulfilled every teacher and parent who had done their best to support the children.
