Using a single channel EMG delivering an audible signal, five muscles/muscle groups were tested during the shot sequence to see if there was a significant difference in muscle electrical activity whilst practising the standard vs the non-standard (defective) technique during shooting. Audible signals were used with the aim of using these as a viable method of biofeedback during training and hence EMG as a training aid. These audible signals were then converted to graphic mode usmg a specialised computer programme to facilitate interpretation and the patterns obtained compared with standard EMG readings. The results obtained did indeed indicate that audible signals in the form of frequency of "beeps" give an accurate representation of muscle electrical activity and different methods of shooting the arrow produced distinct signal patterns. These patterns were easily recognisable by archers who could then identify the phases in their technique where the method could be improved.en_GB
