Abstract: | Jarvinen and Twyford have shown "Constructivist theory as applicable to Technology Education. The theory describes learning as an active, continuous process, where by learners take information form their environment and construct personal interpretations and meaning based upon prior knowledge and experience." (Kozulin 1998) In Technology Education, if we understand the learning styles of individual students, we can often anticipate their perceptions and subsequent behaviours and their fullness of understanding. Having gained a deeper understanding of constructivist theory, we intend to observe and analyse Constructivism in Technology Education in a school environment. From this we will analyse the effectiveness of constructivist theory as applicable to Technology Education. |
