Abstract: Il-bicca l-kbira mill-lokalita tal-Mosta hija mghottija minn zvilupp urban jew mill-agrikultura u ghalhekk, mill-ambjent naturali originali, baqa' biss ftit irqghajja sporadici. Minkejja t-tharbit u t -tibdil fl-ambjent lijgib mieghu l-izvilupp, dawn l-irqghajja huma sinjuri hafna fil-biodiversita u joffru rifugju ghal pjanti u annimali li issa ntilfu mil-bqija tal-lokalita. Dawn ir-rifugji izolati xorta ghadhom mhedda minn zvilupp li ghadu ghaddej u ghalhekk ghandhom jitqiesu bhala ambjenti vulnerabbli. L-iktar ambjenti sinjuri fil-Mosta huma l-widien li jghaddu minnha. Dawn il-widien (Wied Speranza, Wied il-Ghasel, Wied is-Sir u Wied Filep) huma parti minn sistema ikbar ta' moghdijiet li minnhom jghaddi l-ilma lijingabar fuq l-gholjiet tar-Rabat u Had-Dingli. Dawn il-moghdijiet jibdew minn Wied il-Buzbiez, li qieghed wara r-Rabat, u jkomplu sakemm jghaddu mill-Mosta biex fl-ahhar jizvujtaw fl-inhawi tas-Salina. Il-kenn u l-ilma tal-widien joholqu ambjent kemmxejn stabbli li jigi kolonizzat minn pjanti u annimali li rna jinstabux f inhawi ohra. Ambjenti ohrajn ta' valur ekologiku konsiderevoli lijinstabu lil hinn mill-widien jinkludu rqghajja ta' art xaghrija, irqghajja ta' steppa u ghadajjar ta' l-ilma helu.
