Primary school geography in nineteenth century Malta

Abstract

In this short dissertation I have tried to name and comment upon a few of the most important events in the history of education in Malta which affected the curriculum in the 19th. century, with special reference to the place of geography in the curriculum. Geography's traditions at the primary school level in terms of content, method and aids are the variables which have been considered. I was however faced with the problem of spreading my research over a long period. My short dissertation is not exhaustive of the subject for I chose only a few important aspects. Some other aspects I left out because of lack of sufficient information.
