Abstract: The purpose of this dissertation is to examine the factors affecting employee retention and how Human Resources Manager can contribute to alleviate this quandary. This research sets out to find which are the main factors that push employees to leave an organization or firm they work for. Qualitative methodology was used to collect data. One-on-one interviews were conducted between December 2019 and January 2020. Two HR managers and five members of staff were interviewed. Open-ended questions were asked to try to understand the viewpoint of the people interviewed as regards retention factors. What makes workers stay and what makes them leave? Additionally, what role does the Human Resources Manager play in order to retain workers who are valued by the company?
