Abstract: The strategic elements of this study are the cultural aspect and health issues of Maltese wine. It emphasises the need to educate citizens to adopt healthy attitude towards beverages in general and in particular wine, and thus minimize accidents and abuse. After highlighting socio-historical traditions of wine in Mediterranean Malta as a take of my investigation, the research proceeds to investigate the practice of household winemaking in the Maltese archipelago. Health aspects of such an activity are also investigated. The data is evaluated and interpreted using the information within its specific Maltese and Gozitan contexts, but also compared, in order to reveal important distinctive differences. The research gives recommendations in order to maximize health awareness and educate, not just the relatively limited domestic wine producers, but also the Maltese society in general.
