Abstract: As time goes by and reality changes, the more do we feel the need that education forms an integral part of a person's life. However, in spite of this, there seems to be an accompanying and rising dissatisfaction, in particular among young adolescents, with the kind of education that they receive at school. This has been the main objective of this discussion, that is, to analyse the secondary school curriculum and see whether it· leads to an overall development of the person. In order to do this, I had firstly to examine the concept of a person, and later build up the' concept of the educated person. Finally, the practical aspect of the curriculum was considered, so that in the light of what we had said, we could see how this could best: be channelled to meet the goals of the educated person that we had set.
