Abstract: Research shows that students tend to introspect the teachers' expectations of what they are able to do. In previous studies it was also found out that teachers can improve students' achievement by setting high expectations, in such a way students feel more confident and do definitely better. Therefore there seems to be a causal connection between students' achievement and teachers' pedagogies. The aim of the research is to identify the factors affecting teachers' expectations and their impact on students' achievement in French. Data was conducted through the qualitative method. About 10 interviews in a state and church school, selected through purpose sampling, were conducted. Interviews with the individual students and teachers concerned, were held before and after observations in class.
