Abstract: The aim behind this study is to find out which methods are most widely used by Maltese primary school teachers. The study was carried out with upper primary school teachers and is divided in five chapters. In the first chapter, some main teaching methods are discussed with reference to various literature. The second chapter looks at the current situation in Malta. By interviewing teachers, we gathered information about teachers' constraints and strategies. The research procedures are given in chapter 3, while the data obtained is analysed in the subsequent chapter. Conclusions and recommendations follow in chapter 5.
