Abstract: Education, being the major concern in almost every country, has a great influence on today's world. As a matter of fact, a hefty percentage of most Western countries' budget is directed towards Education. As from the first "schools" up to today, there have been various innovations and changes, always with the aim of improvement. Teaching methods have been developed and enhanced, shifting the fulcrum of what is taught from the teacher to the learner. This does not just include the communicative approach, by means of which students are guided towards autonomy and their interests are taken into account, acknowledged and promoted, but it also takes into consideration what can be done in order to motivate each and every student. The concept of edutainment has been developed within this context. The aim of this dissertation is to investigate and analyse critically the vast range of games teachers of Italian L2 can resort to in order to enliven their lessons, thus rendering them more student-friendly. I therefore reviewed the relevant literature in this field by examining various publications and websites in which using games in order to teach Italian is the rule of the day. These games reach diverse objectives and focus on different learning abilities. One can also find my suggestions in the form of lesson plans which include games which may readily be used by teachers of Italian L2. The principles of the whole work are then summed up in the conclusion.
