Exploring our surroundings : a dolphin guide's first steps

Abstract

The dissertation attempts to infuse environmental education into the programme offeredby the Malta Girl Guides Association to its members. This is achieved through theproduction of a general environmental education programme for the four sections:Dolphins, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. The dissertation then provides an activitybook for Dolphin Guiders as a sample of how the principles of environmental educationcan be implemented in the environmental education programme.This resource takes the form of an activity book full of programme ideas for DolphinGuiders. The activity book also contains a resource section, that provides materialsneeded for implementation of some of the activities, and an appendix, that provides theGuiders with the necessary background knowledge to tackle the proposed activities.The activity book was evaluated by Dolphin Guiders by means of a feedbackquestionnaire and a discussion workshop. Their feedback indicates that the activity bookhas reached its aims and that it is highly appreciated.
