Analiżi sintattika-semantika ta' xi verbi ta' l-għaxar forma fil-Malti

Abstract

This work is a syntactic-semantic study of eighteen Maltese verbs of the tenth form occurring in my idiolect. These verbs are further analysed in relation to other derivatives of the same root. An introductory first chapter introduces the notion of a superlexeme to account for the lexical relations between various derived lexemes sharing the same root consonants. The second, third and fourth chapters deal with Inchoative, Causative and Reflexive Causative tenth form verbs respectively. Chapter five analyses seven verbs which were found to be problematic in their interpretation. Finally, the work is concluded with an overall look at the results obtained from the syntactic-semantic analysis of these verbs.
