| Abstract: | The first part of the dissertation emphasises speech as the very nature of language. I studied the present situation of the teaching of German in Malta and tried to find out why the students learning German, fail to speak in German after having finished a course of three or five years. I then moved on to the question of communicative activities and investigated the role they play in enhancing speech already from the very beginning of learning a foreign language. and saw I looked then at pictures, stories and drama how they could be used communicatively in the German classroom. |
