This research explores the possibility of having an art teaching pack for students studying art at Form IV level. Part of this study focuses on the teachers' own opinions about this innovative idea, and seeks to find ways and means on how such resource material can be implemented within our schools. Ultimately, this confirmed the stated hypotheses. This pack is designed with the intention of providing an effective resource to be used within the classroom, and also on an individual basis by the students. It includes practical guidelines about the language and nature of art. Furthermore, it facilitates students' possibilities to explore various concepts like aesthetics, symbols in art, our cultural identity, issues raised through visual culture, notions explored by various artists, and the relationship between visual art, and the public. This pack is enhanced with various images of art works ranging from popular culture to fine arts. It also includes several practical activities which enable the students to become acquainted with the elements and principles of art, as well as other issues which have a substantial role in art practice. Through the visual arts, this pack attempts to help students understand our culture and other cultures especially through contemporary works of art. Finally, this research emphasizes the idea of art as a vehicle between contemporary issues and students' everyday lives. It is meant to provoke discussion, and motivate students to become active and critical thinkers.en_GB
