| Abstract: | The dissertation is divided into three sections. The first part is a biography of Dr. Mro. Giuseppe Vella LL.D.(1827-1912) highlighting his environmental a.11d working conditions together with an account on Sacred Music for which he was mostly renowned. The second part is a Catalogue of extant works composed by him a.11d which are found in the Musical Archives of the Cathedral Museum at Mdina. The third part is a modern edition of the DIES IRAE from the original manuscript of the score of his Missa de Requiem, first performed in 1859. |
