Abstract: The successful teaching of Accounting requires a sound knowledge of the basic principles of the theory and substantial practice in the application of these principles so that by constant repetition they become ingrained in the students' minds. This dissertation has therefore been prepared with the intention of providing a range of material suitable for Form 3 students questions, quizzes, multiple choice questions, assignments, Programmed Learning etc- in order to develop an understanding of Accounting principles and an ability to apply them as the need arises. The Multiple Choice Tests were administered to a wide selection of students in various schools all over the island to ascertain their knowledge of the basic theory and Accounting concepts at this level. This was followed by a detailed item and error analysis to identify those areas which students find very difficult to understand.
