Abstract: The principal objective of this research is to identify a viable process to help students develop their creative writing abilities. Using a case study approach, different aspects of writing are assessed and developments in the child's progress throughout the four years under investigation are identified. With the passage of time a significant difference became apparent between work carried out at school and at home. School writing activities were devoiced, whilst writing at home was highly productive and transformative. The method of teaching adopted by the school was traditional product-oriented. On the other hand the one at home was based on the New Paradigm which puts the learner at the centre. This was actualised via the method: Writing-As-Process, and the orientation was informed by the Let-Me-Learn perspective. In this way the child shifted from the Knowledge-Telling-Model to the Knowledge-Transforming-Model. The end result was a more creative form of writing, encompassing a diversity of genres, which exhibit richness of both content and style.
