The potential of cartoons and caricatures as a communicative medium and as an educational tool will also be evaluated. The following chapter provides a brief history of early Maltese cartoonists, while Chapter 3 is dedicated to the historical analysis of the period concerning this dissertation, 1955-1962. Chapter 4 is an evaluation, analysis and conclusions of a Field Test, conducted by the author, to evaluate the hypothesis whether caricatures can facilitate, enhance and transmit more effective and enjoyable historical understanding.
