Technology Education has its own rationale and philosophy and in our work we shall identify these objectives. This will require a review of academic literature. A curriculum for Technology Education in the National Minimum Curriculum has been constructed. Using two fields of Technology we will identify the areas of the curriculum that can be satisfied using these in a design and make approach. Our choice of fields are Mechanisms and Electronics. The main issues involved are producing a matrix of curriculum objectives and determining a scheme of work through which a progression towards a full coverage of the identified areas of the curriculum can be achieved. The design and make approach determines, that pupils will be involved in the manipulation of resistant materials using tools and machinery and therefore we must give attention to aspects of health and safety. To enable us to build our scheme of work we shall conduct a literature review of such schemes and lesson plans which are available in print or electronic form. Questionnaires were set up to gain the perspectives of Technology Education teachers and practitioners about the nature of schemes of work from Form 1 to 3.en_GB
