Abstract: Adolescence is an important stage in human development, often associated with character formation. Hence the acquisition of attitudes is an integral part of the adolescent's life. In spite of the emergence of a youth culture, adolescents cannot be regarded as a homogeneous group. Their attitudes are influence by individual personalities, family background, peers, socioeconomic status and other factors. Here, adolescent girls who frequent Opportunity Centres speak for themselves in recorded interviews, revealing their attitudes towards work, gender equality, dating, sex, marriage and family.
