This Final Year Project explored the optimal network parameters and radio conditions for 360-degree video streaming in an LTE-A mobile network. Technological advancements with regards to omnidirectional capturing devices demand higher data rates, implying that 360-degree video is an example of such. Furthermore, an investigation of the capacity requirements and quality content was made whilst operating the given system under different loading conditions. In this project, a setup consisting of both hardware and software was implemented in order to emulate a typical live streaming system, with the difference that full-view omnidirectional videos are transmitted. Using this setup, both the network and radio conditions were manipulated in order to determine the optimal parameter set, with respect to the video quality, in real-world scenarios. Furthermore, multiple video samples were used to ensure that all variables that effect video streaming were accounted for. From the results obtained through testing, it was concluded that the quality of the transmitted video depends on the network bandwidth available on both ends of the stream, being the host which is streaming the video data and the client accessing the stream. The video quality will remain acceptable unless the system network conditions fall below a given threshold. The thresholds vary with different system conditions, which are further discussed within this report.en_GB
