Abstract: | This dissertation expands the topic of co-education in Malta and in other countries, explaining the philosophy why certain secondary schools in Malta are co educational while the majority are single-sexed. Extensive research in books on this subject is over-viewed highlighting attitudes and opinions of the various interested parties. Results of surveys conducted are compiled and evaluated, giving the general outlook on what pupils, teachers and parents think about co-education locally. In the final part of the dissertation, I expressed my own opinions and tried to evaluate if co education schooling can really work in the Maltese context, whether the Maltese society is ready to accept it, or if it is just a utopia that boys and girls can have the same education together. |
