Abstract

The aim of this dissertation is to create reading material in Maltese for Year 2 Primary children. We tried to create reading material suitable for the children who are going to make use of it. Moreover, we took into consideration children's literacy development from early years until they reach the Year 2 class. This helped us to relate the themes and aims to the stories. In this dissertation, we are submitting sixteen stories grouped into four categories. Each category focuses on different literacy objectives for the stories. Finally, we forwarded suggestions on how the teacher can integrate the stories with literacy activities in the classroom, to make the Maltese reading lessons more interesting and challenging.
