La competenza degli alunni maltesi in italiano

Abstract

This dissertation involves the analysis of the results of a research carried out in 1990 among 302 Maltese students of 6/7 years and 10 years of age, who frequent the following Private Schools : Stella Maris Gzira, Stella Maris Balzan, St. Joseph Blata l-Bajda, St. Augustine Pieta'. The main aim of this dissertation is to give an insight of the passive and the active competence of the students in the Italian language through the exposure of television. For our research we asked the students in question to fill in a questionnaire regarding the programmes they watch on television. Then we based our study on tests which include words and phrases. Each interviewer was also asked to propose one or two free expressions. At the end of this research we made a comparison between the results obtained by students attending Private schools and those attending state schools.
