Aspetti lingwistiċi ta' l-Għarbi fit-traduzzjoni ta' l-eżami School Leaving u Matrikola Ordinarja

Abstract

This dissertation tackles the problem of translation in the Arabic Matriculation and School Leaving Examination (May/June 1987) both from the theoretical and the practical aspect. Arabic Phonology and Orthography were discussed, followed by Morphology and Syntax and later by Lexis and Lexical and Idiomatic Transfers. The translations of six hundred Examination Scripts were in fact analysed systema tically and these offered the corpus for each item discussed throughout this work. Statistic results were also offered wherever relevant.
