Educazione linguistica e culturale : un progetto per l'autonomia del discente

Abstract

The aim of my research conducted at St. Monica School Gzira, consists in the development of the structures and the functions of the Italian language through Italian television programmes. This consists in promoting in students the idea that they can learn to use the television as a medium for their learning needs, especially linguistic and cultural aspects as this phenomenal instrument so at hand, gives the students the opportunity to watch in real time realities in our houses. As these television messages are perceived by the students in various ways, through their different abilities and interests, in my project I tried to promote the idea of autonomous learning through my project to develop these essential abilities in everyday life. The teacher is not a person that knows everything and so he/she is not able to put into practice all the learning sufficient for an individual. Examining the works of Galea and Iraci, I tried to make use of their results and conclusions. Thanks to them, I tried to make use of their suggestions to obtain positive and useful results for my research. I tried to develop the idea of the importance of the linguistic and cultural elements during the learning phase of the foreign language, in this case, the Italian language. Through a questionnaire, lessons with video and a diary updated everyday, I tried to examine the students and to promote the idea of learning in an autonomous way with the teacher acting solely as a guide.
