This dissertation consists of twenty texts that have been downloaded from Internet sites and subsequently analysed. This thesis aims at developing in students the ability to comprehend and decode a text. The texts used are factual, authentic, educational and motivational. Leaming a language goes far beyond learning the grammar of a language. Leaming a language means understanding a language and being able to express oneself by means of that language. Being able to read does not necessarily imply that one should understand every single word in a text, but being able to understand the text in a global approach. This teaching 'pack' is divided into four sections; fables, Italian cinema, Italian music and fiction. Each section consists of five texts with the respective textual analysis and answer sheets. The texts are a good resource as an authentic material and the textual analysis are good teaching aids since they guide the students through different stages in the learning of the target language. All texts are divided into three sections; the motivational section, the analitic section (which includes questions regarding culture, geography and language games) and the synoptic section. The thesis aims to expose students to a global aspect of the language and the culture of Italy.en_GB
