dc.description.abstract"Educational resources" and "learning" are two terms related to each other in theories of effective teaching. In practice are they often treated as separate issues? The first two chapters of this work discuss the rationale of effective teaching against the principles of a good communication model, taking into account basic conditions of learning and the importance of the support of adequate material and facilities. Resource use is discussed in relation to the aims and implications set by the Maltese Secondary School Minimum Curriculum. The last three chapters are an analysis of the availability of educational aids in schools and the extent to which teachers are effectively using them in teaching episodes. The attitudes of students, teachers and head of schools towards the use and impact of learning aids, taking into consideration some gender issues, are also discussed. The concluding part comments on the general prevailing state of management and organisation of resource provisions in Maltese Secondary schools. Some suggestions of measures to be taken to develop resources provision are presented. Some areas for further study related to the theme of this work are also indicated.en_GB
