Abstract: | After considering the implication of environmental education on school practices, the study focuses on the implementation of environmental education principles in the present school curricula. This project aims at utilizing environmental education principles to establish educational links between the primary school curriculum and the community in which the school is sited. For this particular project the village of Attard was taken as the target community. The teacher's guide aims at familiarising the pupils with various characteristics of social, historical and natural aspects particular to Attard. The pack's activities ai·e related to the current social studies and science syllabi as well as the National Minimum Curriculum's philosophy of inter disciplinarily and learner centred education. The teacher's guide includes the five itineraries for the walks, suggested remote preparation, pre-visit, on-site and follow-up activities and pupil's worksheets. The project was evaluated with a sample of teachers. |
