Abstract: | This dissertation is intended to elicit the educational relevance of the Drydocks. The workers undergo a period of Apprenticeship and pursue workers' education courses. A place in the Apprenticeship Scheme was achieved by the Dockyard Entrance Examination in the past, and schools emerged to prepare boys for this exam. There are also links between the Drydocks and the technical sector of the formal educational system. This dissertation should be useful to those interested in adult education in general and workers' education in particular. |
