The management role of the primary headteachers in Gozo

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate and explore General Theories of Management, their application to educational management, their relation to theory and practice and the identification of the Head as manager. The study also proposed to evaluate these themes across Gozitan Primary schools and their headship practice. Chapter 1 tackles the General Theories of Management, their organisation and their origins. Chapter 2 looks into the five major models of educational management. Chapter 3 functions on management roles. Chapter 4 relates this body of knowledge to the local situation. Chapter 5 gives an analysis and interpretation of the questionnaire and other surveys conducted in Gozitan Primary Scools. Chapter 6 and 7 applies findings to grounded theory and possible practice.
