Citation: Scicluna Calleja, A. (1982). Coping with change : a challenge to the Maltese educational system (Bachelor’s dissertation).
Abstract: This work deals essentially with the relationship between Education and Society, first establishing a theoretical basis, later concentrating on Malta. Chapter 1 deals with the theory of change per se as well as its role and effect in society and education. The second chapter deals purely with Malta. It attempts at giving an overview of those processes of change shaping Maltese society for the last two decades or so. The third chapter, in similar vein, considers the educational system in Malta in a critical spirit with a view to what is said in the chapter before. The fourth chapter aims at being prescriptive. It is a visionary expression of what the writer feels education in Malta should be like. The conclusion embodies the rationale for the suggestions offered and a wider perspective for placing this work within the larger context of time and evolution.
