Citation: Chircop, J.-C. (1999). A comparative study of the teaching of religion at the primary level, before and after the 1960's in Malta (Bachelor's dissertation).
Abstract: The work compares the religious education in the Maltese Primary Schools before the 1960's, with the teaching of religion as imparted after the 1960's catechetical reform. Since Malta is a small island and has always been influenced by foreign catechetical transformations, first there is a description of the European social, religious and educational background. Then there is an analysis of the methodological options underlying the teaching of Religion in Malta, before and after the 1960' s, with particular reference to the children's textbooks at Primary Level. The last part of the dissertation poses an eye on the future according to the expectations of Religion Primary School teachers.
