| Abstract: | Denfil is one of the most commonly used textbook in the teaching of the Maltese language. In this study, we first set out a number of criteria that must be taken into consideration when compiling a textbook for language development. Then we analyse Denfil in the light of the criteria derived in the previous section. Finally, we give general recommendations on how the series can be improved in order to get maximum benefit out of it. |
