Abstract: A study of the development of personality and social behaviour of children aged 3 to 7 years, as seen from play behaviour. The aim of this study is to show the influence of play· on the development of personality and socialization of children. It will not deal uniquely with play in general since studies have already been carried out on this subject. For this reason, the aspects of personality and socialization will be defined and discussed within the context of play, before going on to a more detailed discussion on the play aspect itself. As a conclusion to the study, a number of practical recommendations for both the school and home context, will be given with the aim of enhancing the importance of play conditions which facilitate socialization and the development of a healthy personality.
