Abstract: Architecture and its representation have went along hand in hand since the dawn of time, but it has only been until recently that the reliance on the image has been recognised. Throughout history, the representation of architecture has all been about architectural ideas and possibilities. The aim was never to simulate architecture, but rather, to create a talking point that allows for reinterpretation and imagination. With the advent of hyper-realistic rendering software (which promotes „what you see is what you get‟), and today‟s increasingly fast media consumption society, this quality in architectural representation has been lost. This dissertation aims to give an updated situation of architectural representation today, and in turn, classify different methods of representation in how accurate they are to depict different qualities of space.
