Abstract: | Stem cells can be totipotent, pluripotent or multipotent and they can be sourced from various parts of the body. Stems cell research is in hyperdrive and this is responsible for its implementation into the clinical setting. Indeed, stem cell-based therapy has been applied successfully in cancer, hematopoietic and metabolic disorders. But stem cell therapy also has other potential indications in neurodegenerative diseases, stroke, cardiac infarction, arthritis, diabetes mellitus and hearing loss. |
