In this dissertation I will deal with the episode of the encounter of Jesus with the Samaritan Woman narrated in John 4, 3-42. I will analyze how this woman believed gradually that Jesus is the promised Messiah and how she became a 'missionary'- disciple of Jesus. From a woman how apparently was avoiding her town people she goes to them to proclaim Jesus. I will also comment on how the whole town believed in Jesus through her witness. In doing so I hope to show that this Johannine episode serves as the equivalent to the call of the first male disciples.en_GB
