Abstract

This dissertation seeks to examine the different types of conflicts found in Maltese novels. The dissertation analyses the conflicts between the individual and the society, between the individual and the religious and political institutions, between gererations, between the sexes and last but not least the conflict within the individual himself. The dissertation shows that these conflicts are typical expressions of Maltese society. For this purpose, great importance is given to the relations in the eleven novels which were chosen to be studied.
