Abstract: This dissertation is a general view of the role of Physical Education in the preparation of a good citizen. The term 'good citizen' could have a variety of implications and hence we devoted the first part of our work in searching for a proper definition of a 'good citizen' in our context. This was followed by a justification of the importance of Education in the formation of such a citizen and eventually we arrived to mention Physical Education. Keeping the established notions of a good citizen in mind we proceeded by examining the Curricular aims of Physical Education giving primary importance to it's relationship with sport. We think that speaking about sport with reference to a good citizenship could rise certain doubts and therefore we aimed to discover the proper meaning of sport. After arriving at a conclusive point that sport is worthwhile, the next step was to examine the attitudes of Form 4, Form 5 and Post-Secondary School students towards sport. Having gained a picture of these matters in our local situations, we concluded our work with a few simple suggestions which could allow room for improvement.
