Abstract: According to Cambridge Dictionary Online (2012) a transit passenger is 'the movement of a person at an airport who is there to change flights and therefore does not have to go through customs or immigration.' My aim is to explore the views towards the development of a hubbing system in Malta. Hub connectivity refers to the number and frequency on indirect flights available to passengers via an airline hub. That is our airport would become a strategic located airport where major facilities and operations are done, with most of the scheduled flights originating from or terminating at. Interviews were conducted with individuals working in the tourism industry. The aim is to investigate what their opinion is if such a system had to be fully implemented. This study will shed light to whether such system would have a positive or negative effect on our island. The main conclusions show that there is a very optimistic feedback from tourism organisations and that we do have diverse attractions to offer to transit passengers during their short stay on the island.
