Abstract: As we go through life, our trajectories are shaped and affected by encounters; all that we come into contact with, as much as all that we do not. These experiences are not just physically determined, but also existential and immaterial. Although not always acknowledged, architecture is at the forefront of these experiences, having the ability to not only mould our exterior, physical worlds, but also our interior, mental ones. Through its haptic and visual qualities, cinema is utilised as a means of exploring and navigating these complex impressions, in order to rediscover and reimagine these spatial dimensions of architecture and our experiences and encounters with them. In the worlds of Antoine de Saint-Exupery "what is essential is invisible to the eye". It is within this notion that an exploration of lived space and reimagining of architecture is carried out. A move from that which is immediate and evident, to that which is in-between things, which is neither physical nor mental, interior or exterior but lived.
