Abstract: On the 18th of September 1928, the new dirigible, flying for the first time, was named "GRAF ZEPPELIN", in honor of the Count. On the 12th Oct 1928, at 07.30am local time the L. Z. 127 ''Graf Zeppelin" inaugurated its first long range voyage crossing the Atlantic, to Lakehurst, New Jersey, U. S. A., completing the journey of 8050 km, without any problems, in 81 hours and two minutes. The return flight Lakehurst, New Jersey to Germany took place on the 28th October 1928, arriving in Friedrichshafen on the 1st Nov 1928. [excerpt]
