Abstract: One of the most important, if not the most important, baroque architects of Malta is without doubt Romano Carapecchia. The baroque period has always intrigued me: it was a period of courageous persons who were ready to experiment with new ideas and give a bold interpretation of art and architecture. The transformation of some of the buildings in Valletta and elsewhere into baroque masterpieces, by Carapecchia and others, is of great importance to the study of our architecture as the influence of those years can be felt right up to our days. No detailed in-depth study of Carapecchia's work has as yet been accomplished. I felt that an important first step is to have a critical discussion of all the sources that have mentioned him, hoping that this will serve as a stepping stone for further study.
