Adolescents and basic Christian marital values

Abstract

In this dissertation, the author intends to study which marital values 14 to 16 year old Maltese adolescents cherish most and how they view marriage. Through a literature review, the dissertation identifies the basic Christian marital values such as love, sacrament, fidelity, and indissolubility. Current views in marriage such as trial marriage, sex before marriage, and cohabitation are also mentioned. Throughout the study, the author also identifies what adolescence is and what kind of development and changes happen during this period in life. From findings of the study carried among Maltese adolescents and from the literature review, some conclusions are drawn regarding which marital values need and should be transmitted to these adolescents at school and which methods are needed to reach this aim.
