Abstract: HISTORY: The Philatelic Society was founded on 6th March 1966 by a group of Maltese philatelists. -- PURPOSE: To bring together on a regular basis those interested in stamp collecting and postal history for discussions, lectures, shows, exchanges and other activities related to stamp collecting. -- OBJECTIVES: The aim of the Society is to encourage the study and collecting of stamps and other collectables from absolute beginners, (including children), through to experienced specialist collectors, and to promote these hobbies in every conceivable way. -- ACTIVITIES: Meetings are held at St. Publius Hall, St. Publius Street, Floriana, usually on the first Wednesday of each month excluding July, August and September. The meetings commence at 18.00 hrs and include ample time for members to exchange stamps, postal history items and more recently postcards, telecards and cigarette cards as well, of course, information on their favourite hobby. Non members are welcomed. [excerpt]
