Abstract: This work addresses two main topics, that of "Lightweight" structures, or more specifically tree-like structures, and fabric formwork as the method of construction. This dissertation seeks to propose an efficient method of construction for these structures using reinforced concrete. Fabric formwork was chosen as the most adequate method of construction, since complex geometries result at the intersection of the different elements that make up the 'tree'. The mould type, assembly process, and the choice of fabric used are thoroughly discussed. This study also takes into consideration such forms acting in two distinct manners; primarily, the "truss" model, whose efficiency is compared to the beam-column approach. Through the final scaled model, this work concludes that fabric formwork truly simplifies the construction of complex geometries, since the procedure worked successfully. Observations with regards to improvements and possible optimisations to the construction method proposed, are highlighted in the concluding chapters.
