Abstract: Malta's fortunes, or misfortunes, have always had, an intimate connection with wars, especially in the Mediterranean. In 1904, the Royal Engineers Balloon Unit, after serving in the Boer war in South Africa, visited Malta, and an exhibition together with a demonstration, was carried out. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no evidence, that this First Balloon show over Malta, was commemorated by a special issue, of a commemorative hand stamp, Card, or Aerogramme. [excerpt]
